Sweet chestnut trees?

Are there any sweet chestnut trees in the Cambridge area that the public
can gather sweet chestnuts from (when they are ready of course)? I
presume any in the Botanic Gardens would be out of bounds.

Further, are there any arranged chestnut gathering walks?

I don't know - but there were a number of hazelnut windfalls on Garlic
Row on Sunday?

Just the other side of Newmarket, Warrenhill Plantation on the Moulton
Road has lots.

Thank you. Sounds like a pleasant outing. Is Warrenhill PLantation open
to the public? If so, could you tell me how to access it? I've had a
look on the web, and can only find Warren Hill Gallops. Is that the same?
Thanks,
Naomi

Yes it's open, but only after 1pm when the racehorses have finished their
training. Your map probably shows a square wood at the top of the hill
above the gallops, that's Warrenhill Plantation. There is lots of parking
on the wide grass verges of the Moulton Road.

Lots of Cchestnuts in Mildenhall woods. There's a back road from
Mildenhall, crossing the A1065. From there to where it joins the A11 there
are plenty of sweet chestnuts on both sides. It's open access woodland too!
