External cladding fitters?

Some houses have a layer of external insulation cladding fitted - I've
seen it being done to a row of semis (council houses, possibly) on New
Road, Sawston near the school.

If anyone has experience of this, I would like to know.

One end of our house (1960s bungalow) has some painted rendering whilst
most of the rest of the house is bare brick. This rendering is
disintegrating with age and beginning to peel off now and it occurs to
me that this endwall could be stripped down to the brick and clad with a
layer of external insulation without affecting any of visual aspect of
the property.

So, that is a possibility given the state of the rendering.

Any leads?

This was done to some steel framed council houses in Trumpington:

Should be doable. There are cladding systems designed for that. Don't
really have any experience, but I watched some videos about wood fibre
external insulation from these folks:

Or there are the foam-based solutions as used on the Trumpington example.

You could use cosmetic cladding (wood, tile, etc) on top or rendering.

Kate had some done to the house in Cornwall but I doubt that's of any
great interest to you.

You might try contacting the Building Control people at SCDC and see if
they have any suggestions.
