Discussion:
Piano available for loan, no strings! (hall, school, institution, private, etc)

Hello all,

Alena and I have the opportunity to get an almost unused baby grand
piano for "a song", as they say, even though it has a significant retail
value.

We can't house the piano but would like to be able to give it to Tom
if/when he has a place of his own in (n) years.

We would like to offer the piano (a 160cm long baby grand, Yamaha,
pretty good quality instrument) to an institution - or possibly even a
private individual - who would like to benefit from its use for a number
of years before returning it to us.

Yes, it's a strange offer, but there we go. The current owner of the
piano wants it to go to a good home, and Alena and I think that doesn't
mean just taking it for the purpose of selling it on immediately for its
retail value.

So, if anyone here knows of an institution (school, arts centre, hall,
business, whatever) who would like to benefit from a long-term loan of a
good quality piano, please get in touch with me.

Obviously when the subject heading was "no strings", it didn't occur to
me that might have a different meaning. The piano is, of course, fully
strung and in excellent shape.

Ho hum.

Ho hum indeed; I thought it was a pretty good deliberate play on words.

Anyway, the biggest problem with pianos is finding a way to transport
them.
