Discussion:
Is it a scam, or is it really Cambridge Water?

I've just noticed a message in my junk folder "from"
Cambridge Water <***@cambridge-water.co.uk>:

"You could win £25 by giving your feedback about our service"

It contains links for the "survey" to a web site in Lithuania. It also says

"If you have any technical queries when giving your feedback, please
contact Explain <***@explainresearch.co.uk>."

So I agree with my mail programme, it's probably a scam.

Has anyone else had this?

I have. I haven't clicked on it. Largely because there was an almost
certainly genuine one not very many weeks ago - why would they repeat it
so soon?

I'm not seeing one of those, but I might have deleted it.

However I do get Cambridge Water sending out scammy letters promoting
Homeserve's drain-insurance (scaremongering about insurance for those few
drains which aren't Cambridge/Anglian Water's statutory responsibility) on a
monthly basis. Luckily they are easily identifiable from the outside and
get binned unopened.

Gotta keep that private equity happy, I suppose.

My similar email of 18th October linked to Luxembourg (.lu), not
Lithuania (.lt)

My recent email started "Hi David", compared to one back in April which
started just "Hello". That earlier email had links containing
"southstaffswater" and "qualtrics.com" and was, I think, triggered
by paying a bill because it asked about "your recent experience
with us".

Serves me right for not checking. It is indeed .lu.
